PMP certification from South Africa: requirements and cost
What you need to sit the PMP exam from South Africa, how much it costs, and how to keep the certification.
The Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from PMI is the project management credential South African employers recognise across sectors. In construction it sits alongside SACPCMP registration rather than replacing it.
Eligibility
- A bachelor's degree or higher plus three years of experience leading projects; or a diploma or associate degree plus four years; or a secondary school certificate plus five years. Graduates of PMI-accredited (GAC) degree programmes need two years.
- 35 contact hours of project management training, or an active CAPM.
Steps
- Log your projects and training in the PMI online application. Describe each project in PMI's terms: objective, your role, outcome.
- Pay the exam fee once approved. PMI may audit your application; keep sign-offs ready.
- Book the exam online or at a test centre.
- Keep it current: 60 PDUs every three years and the renewal fee.
